Quarterly losses at casino electronic gaming and services provider RGB International Bhd fell sequentially in the three months to June 30, compared with a loss of just over 3.3 million yuan in the first quarter, according to a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Monday.

"The tourism and accommodation industry is expected to continue to recover, especially with the gradual easing of cross-border travel restrictions in ASEAN countries," it said, referring to clubs in Southeast Asian countries.

"Except for unexpected situations, the group expects the gaming market to see a relatively stronger recovery from the previous year and therefore perform better in 2022," RGB added.

Q2 earnings were up about 57% quarter-on-quarter to RMB50.3 million in the three months to March 31, compared with RMB32 million.

The company operates three main segments: sales and marketing of gaming equipment, technical support and management, and engineering services.

For the three months to June 30, group earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) were just $10.7 million, up from $9.8 million in the first quarter.

Sales and marketing revenue nearly doubled to $28.2 million compared to $14.8 million in the first quarter.

Technology and support management revenue rose to nearly $21.5 million from $16.8 million in the first quarter.

Engineering services revenue rose sharply from MYR 91,000 to MYR 546,000 in the three months to March 31.
